Business Description

Welcome to Miss Sue’s Nursery School & Kindergarten. Located in Plainview, New York, Miss Sue’s focuses on the individual needs of each and every child.

With a creative, constantly-evolving curriculum and program, our prime educational goal is the development of the whole child – socially, emotionally, physically and educationally. A multi-sensory, wholistic approach to learning is provided through play, art, music, science, physical activities and so much more. Personal guidance is given to each child by our teams of four teachers for every class.

Transportation is available and included for children from Eastern Nassau and Western Suffolk Counties.

Miss Sue’s began in 1958 in the basement of a house in Plainview.  Sue Kuznetz was an early childhood teacher and began taking in local children while their parents worked.  She created her own curriculums and teaching methods that were revolutionary at the time.  As her reputation for providing the best preschool education grew, so did demand for her program.  Picking children up in the family station wagon and working out of a classroom in the basement of her house could no longer keep up with the demand from all the families that wanted to take advantage of her innovative methods.

In 1965, Sue made the decision to expand and purchased a small house on Old Country Road.  She converted that house into what would become the premier preschool on Long Island, Miss Sue’s.  In 1968, her son Ronnie became involved in the business and they continued to innovate and design educational programs based on individual learning and meeting the needs of each and every child.  A summer program, Miss Sue’s Summer Fun, was created and over the years thousands of children have had the opportunity to become part of Miss Sue’s history.

In 1975 she retired to Florida and Ronnie continued their mission of helping children realize their potentials.  As his own family grew, Ronnie brought his children into the fold.  Ronnie’s daughter and son-in-law, Marissa and Mike Wagenberg and son Mike Kuznetz became involved in all aspects of Miss Sue’s School and Summer Fun programs.  As a family, they continually strive to creatively develop new techniques and curriculum, give children an educational advantage, promote social and emotional growth, and instill a love of learning in each of their students and campers.

For three generations, Miss Sue’s has been vital in shaping the lives of so many children; Children who have grown up to become successful doctors, lawyers, teachers, entrepreneurs, scientists, inventors, athletes, parents, friends, role models, and well-rounded individuals; Children who have continuously been well prepared for successful futures.

Here at Miss Sue’s, our philosophy is simple:  provide the best preschool education possible by addressing the individual needs of each and every child in a safe, loving environment.  We treat each student as an individual and encourage personal growth and development through group and independent lessons, learning centers and play.    Our goal is to create a partnership with our students’ parents where we focus on helping each and every child realize their full potential as both a student and a successful human being.  At Miss Sue’s, we teach children more than just letters, numbers and colors. Our students develop a love of learning and a sense of wonder about the world around them.  Miss Sue’s Graduates are not only ready to succeed academically, but are ready to succeed mentally, socially, and emotionally.

Benefits of Being a Miss Sue’s Grad

Studies continually show a preschool education is the foundation on which all future learning is built.  At Miss Sue’s, we go beyond the expectations of a traditional education.  Our students graduate with a love of learning, a thirst for knowledge, and a skill set designed for future success both in and out of the classroom.  In addition to providing an excellent academic foundation, we encourage individual growth, confidence, creativity, social awareness, critical thinking, and independence.  Our graduates show greater confidence, independence, and readiness for their transition into public school, as well as a strong head start in social, mental and emotional development.  Year after year, Elementary School teachers can easily pick out the children who have had the benefits of a Miss Sue’s education.
