scholarship pic 2019The annual scholarship essay judging, a grand opening celebration and a women’s group gathering addressing dollars and “sense” wrapped the chamber’s busy March calendar.

On March 26th, nine member volunteers carefully assessed the 65 entries from POB JFK High School students vying for chamber scholarship awards. Chaired by board member Cheryl Dender, the committee worked for almost three hours to choose the three winners, who will be announced at the high school on June 13th.

On March 28th, the day got off to a sweet start at the grand opening and ribbon cutting at Vitality Bowls in Plainview. Chamber members Denise and Charlie Scuderi welcomed chamber and community members with samples of soups and smoothies. NC Legislator Arnie Drucker presented the owners with a citation to formerly welcome the new business to the area. That evening, the chamber women’s group met to network and listen to some sage advice about women and finances. Advisors from Wells Fargo came to share their knowledge and advice about preparing for our financial futures.
