April is No Fool!
I love the month of April. Winter is finally over and everything is ready to spring into action.
What better way to start the month than with April Fool’s Day? Given the political landscape these days, can’t be sure that what we’re seeing and hearing is reality or an April Fool’s Day prank!
But April is filled with great historical events: the start and end of the Civil War; Florida was discovered by Ponce de Leon! Hank Aaron tied Babe Ruth’s all-time home run record. April 7th is “No Housework Day.” The Titanic struck an iceberg. Paul Revere had his midnight ride warning that the British were coming. Taxes are due April 15th (but this year they’re due April 18th—ask your accountant why) and my favorite is National Honesty Day on April 30th!
The great energy that April promises mirrors the Chamber and its members. More of us are attending meetings and events. The standing-room only attendance at our Annual Dinner was unbelievable. More members are using the Chamber’s Facebook Page as an adjunct to their marketing efforts. The Chamber is working hard to promote its members through social and print media. Members are becoming involved in Chamber activities, connecting and doing business with one another. Ribbon cuttings, networking events and community-oriented projects all bring welcome attention to our members and the Chamber.
The positive energy is palpable and invigorating. We continue to grow and attract new members like D Squared Boutique, La Bottega Plainview, Farmingdale Physical Therapy West and TLC Companions & Supply.
Let’s spring forward this April and get energized! Come down to the April 20th meeting and listen to Councilwoman Rebecca Alesia talk about the Town of Oyster Bay. Listen to Richard Cunningham’s presentation about the upcoming school budget votes. Don’t forget to put April 21st on your calendar—Attitude Financial will be hosting a networking event at their offices that’s bound to be fun and have lots of attitude!

Like the month of April, the Chamber is full of energy and possibilities. Come on down, get involved and make it happen!
Looking forward to seeing everyone soon. Go April!
