President’s Message–June 2016

Did Someone Say Barbecue?

Can you believe it’s already June? Wow! Just a few months ago we were enduring some cold days during the winter. Warm days are up ahead!

What a better way to cap of the season with our Annual BBQ–on Tuesday, June 14th at Hay Path Park at 12 Noon! (If it rains, and it won’t, we’ll be able to use an adjoining community meeting room).

I love barbecues! Growing up, my mother, Zelda, was the Queen of Barbecues, grilling and cooking in the backyard. My father (Irving the Butcher) supplied the food and my mother grilled it up. We didn’t have a fancy grill–-just the old-fashioned kind with old-fashion charcoal that we fired up with lighter fluid! What a smell! Waiting for the charcoal to get to the right temperature and then watching the chicken, hamburgers, hot dogs and meat sizzle. Yum! Brings back mouth-watering memories.

Don’t miss out on our BBQ–it’s going to be a great event with delicious food supplied by Ralph Galdorisi of Coliseum Kitchen. We’re also going to have live entertainment and great speakers. As president, I’m guaranteeing great weather (unless it rains!) so I hope to see you all there.

Even though summer is right around the corner, the Chamber is still on the move. We’re planning for our Summer Golf Outing at Tam O’Shanter Country Club (RSVP right here!) and the Fair Committee is in full swing planning for our Annual Fair which will be held on Saturday, October 1st. Get on board and be a sponsor of the Fair-–there are multiple levels to participate in. The earlier you sponsor, the greater your exposure and promotion will be. Click Here to Sponsor. MapToons will be calling all of our members to join in a cooperative effort to promote the Chamber and our Members. It’s an exciting opportunity that I hope you’ll participate in.

I was very impressed by the turn-out at our last meeting when we had elections-–and super impressed by the number of candidates running for election. It demonstrates that we as business members in this community have a connection to each other and want to make a difference. Our Fair Committee has over a dozen members; our 911 Memorial Committee has an equal number. We’re active; we’re connecting; and we’re making a difference as business leaders in this community.

The Chamber continues to grow and we’ll continue to offer opportunities for networking, and on-going promotion of our Members. We hope to have a full slate of events for the Fall. Keep reading the e-mails; check the website for news and upcoming events. Let us know if you want to get more involved or have an idea for a project or event. We’d like you to be more involved and active.
