President’s Message–November 2017

It’s November Already!?

Can you believe that it’s November and we’re in the homestretch for the end of 2017? The year has been dizzying and it ain’t over yet!

Are you the best? Do you want to be Number One? You can by making sure our Chamber is voted as the Best Chamber on Long Island. It’s really simple—you only have to vote a million times between now and December 15th! Only kidding, but we can all vote once a day by CLICKING HERE, scrolling down to Chamber of Commerce and voting for our Chamber. Let’s make it happen and let’s be Number One together!

Lots of other things are happening in November—we’re participating in a multi-chamber networking event to honor veterans on November 8th in Farmingdale. Check out this link and register today! Our “adopted” Charity SNAP is having their annual Fund Raising Dinner–if you’re interested in attending this event, or donating to SNAP, CLICK HERE for more information and to RSVP.  Congratulations to Shelley Feigelsen for being nominated as Businessperson of the Year. She was honored, along with scores of other Chamber honorees, at the Nassau Council of Chambers’ annual breakfast last month.

Our next General Meeting, Wednesday, November 15th plans to be a mystery-solver, with the Plainview Water District making a presentation on the issue of pinholes and water safety. Newsday headlined the issue recently in its article, “Mystery in Plainview Water District.” Come to the meeting and let’s see how these issues are being addressed. The Commissioners and Superintendent will be available for questions on this hot topic.

We’re having our annual Holiday Party at Steve’s Piccola Bussola in Syosset on Monday, December 4th. The party will feature networking, a full sit-down dinner, beer and wine, and chances to win raffle prizes. Did I mention networking and friends? CLICK HERE TO RSVP and bring your colleagues, employees and business partners. Should be a fun night!

We’ll be gearing up for membership renewals before you know it. If you want to get a head-start, just click here to renew your membership. We’re planning the Paid-Up Membership Dinner as we speak, so don’t miss out! Our membership continues to grow and we’ve tipped the scales at over 204 members. We continue to program interesting meetings, events, speakers and networking opportunities. Make the most of your membership—come to meetings and events, get involved in a committee or a project. Have a great idea, critique or comment about the Chamber? Let us know. The more you get involved and invest in relationships with other Chamber members, the greater the reward will be in business and friendships!

Looking forward to seeing you soon!

Elan Wurtzel, President
