President’s Message: January 2015

Best wishes to all of our members, your staff and families for a very Happy, Healthy & Prosperous New Year! Let’s work to make 2015 a great one.

We started off the New Year with an amazing networking event hosted by Coastal Cabinet Works in their beautiful and spacious showroom. Over 100 people came out on one of the coldest nights of the year (it was only January 8th!) and were delighted with a beautiful showroom, delicious food, drink and dessert and the warm hospitality of Ricky Young, Coastal Cabinet Works’ owner and his team. There was a lot of energy in the “kitchens” and it was good to see our members meeting and connecting with familiar faces and new friends. Thanks to the East Meadow and Melville Chambers of Commerce and the Independent Business Women’s Circle (IWBC) for supporting the event and encouraging their members to participate.

Lots of new happenings in our Chamber. We’re going to go live with our new website very soon! Each member will be able to create their own individual page on the website, complete with a description of your company, logo and/or pictures. These pages will enhances your on-line presence and provide greater intenet exposure for your companies. This is an exclusive benefit of Chamber membership.

We’re also very honored to have Rebeca Alesia, Town Councilwoman, come to our January 21st meeting to speak about the Town of Oyster Bay. This is where most of us do our business and where many of us live. It’s vital to our futures to ensure that the Town is supportive of us and retains its ongoing vitality. Come to the meeting and meet Rebecca Alesia and learn more about the Town.

We’re creating new Focus Groups for our Members: Health Care Focus Group lead by Jim Baker and Andrew Lamkin and Banking/Finance Focus group lead by Marianne Plummer. Come to the next meeting and learn more.

Don’t forget our FREE February 4th Paid-Up Membership Dinner–if you haven’t done so already RSVP–you can click RIGHT HERE to RSVP. Membership Gifts

GiftMembership gifts will be given to all members at the dinner: coffee mug, multi-use insulated bag, name badge and Chamber decal.

Chamber membership adds value and credibility to our businesses. One important study commissioned by the American Chamber of Commerce Executives found that Chamber membership communicates to customers and clients that the member engages in good business practices; customers and clients believe that a company’s active Chamber membership results in higher quality services and products and a greater degree of credibility and trustworthiness. One very important finding from this study:“When clients and customers know that a business is a member of the Chamber of Commerce, they are 49% more likely to think favorably of it and 80% more likely to do business with the member.” This is a powerful observation and message–join the Chamber, participate and become active and strengthen your appeal and loyalty to your customers and clients.

Our Chamber offers great value–free events, marketing opportunities, interesting speakers, advocacy and education, meeting new people and exploring new business opportunities and connections, camaraderie and friendship. It’s an unbeatable combination. Join or Renew Your Membership–Click Here and Start to Profit from your Chamber Membership!
