Season of Growth
Spring is upon us. We have moved the clocks forward, grass is becoming green again and the Chamber is ready to amp it up!
Looking Back: Our winter was packed with great networking events, an educational workshop, engaging meetings with Nassau County Executive Laura Curran and Comptroller Jack Schnirman, as well as a dynamic discussion on networking with IBO’s Tom Gibson.
We also continued to raise money for our annual chosen charity, Long Island Birthday Wishes. We have two more months to reach our goal of $5,000 raised. So please, when you are asked to participate in a 50/50 or buy a raffle ticket, please keep in mind the great work that Birthday Wishes does and the children that benefit from their programs.
Spring Forward: I am excited about our Spring calendar featuring Town of Oyster Bay Supervisor Joseph Saladino at our April meeting, our annual Golf Outing and Networking event on June 13 at the beautiful Cold Spring Country Club and the annual BBQ on June 19. Various monthly networking opportunities are also on the calendar with the Nassau Council of Chambers of Commerce 40th Birthday Celebration being the largest on May 15th. As veteran POB chamber board member and NCCC president Francesca Carlow says, “It will be a networking extravaganza!” Be sure to RSVP.
Fall Planning: Spring at the chamber also means focusing on the Fall – specifically our Fall Festival on October 6th. New and improved sponsorship opportunities will be announced in mid-April. Thank you to our loyal festival sponsors who can certainly speak about the many benefits of participation they receive year in and year out. We anticipate many new sponsors to come aboard for the 2019 community event.
Quorum Needed: Most importantly, the Chamber will be conducting Board of Director elections at our May 15th meeting. Your attendance is requested as impactful decisions are made. We welcome all members, who have belonged to the Chamber for one year, to step forward and help out by running for a seat on the board. Being a board member is a great opportunity to be involved with the community and work with other board members to plan our events and think of new ways to create benefits for our members. Please reach out to me directly if you are interested in running for the board.
I look forward to seeing you at our meetings and events and catching up. Best wishes for a Happy Passover and a Happy Easter.
Andrew Lamkin Esq.
POB Chamber President
