It’s summertime in Plainview-Old Bethpage! Although many are taking well needed vacations or relaxing at our local beaches, the Chamber is working hard to plan ahead, including creating a new and improved website to serve our growing membership. Be sure to explore its new format and benefits this September.
See You in September
Our annual Golf Outing will be on Thursday, the 26th. It was rained out in June and will still be held at the gorgeous Cold Spring Country Club. There are golfing spots available, so do not waste an opportunity to bring your clients out for a great day of food, golf and networking.
The Chamber’s annual Fall Kickoff Membership Meeting, on Wednesday morning September 18th, will be held at the clubhouse at Country Pointe Plainview. This promises to be a special event and every member is entitled to bring a guest at no charge.
Women’s Group Gatherings
In the meantime, this July our thriving women’s group will have a casual gathering – open to non-members – on Tuesday, July 30 at Vespa in Farmingdale. They will hold their first meeting on Tuesday, September 10th.
Charity News
Looking back, at our annual BBQ, we presented Long Island Birthday Wishes, our 2019 Charitable Partner, with a check for $3,000. Thank you to all who have contributed by purchasing raffles at our various events. All of the money raised goes directly to this great cause. We will be announcing our next Charitable Partner in August. Please contact our Charity Committee Chair, Lindsay Covello with any questions or submit an application.
Fall Festival 2019
Of course, Ned Marzigliano and Ben Alssid, along with the Festival Committee, are working around the clock on this year’s Fall Festival, to be held on October 6 at the Library Parking lot. This wonderful community event would not be possible without our loyal sponsors: Platinum Sponsors, Law Offices of Elan Wurtzel, PC and Rich Leshaw of TD Bank; Silver Sponsors: State Farm, Ned Marzigliano Agency; Northwell Health, Plainview and Syosset Hospitals; Str8 Smiles Orthodontics; The Family College Experience; Straight Forward Media; Central Island Health Care and the Mid-Island Y JCC, and last but certainly not least all of our dedicated Bronze Sponsors. See our website homepage for the full listing.
Congratulations and Gratitude
Speaking of Ned Marzigliano, please join me in congratulating him for being selected as the 2019 Plainview-Old Bethpage Small Businessperson of the Year. Ned will be honored at the Nassau Council of Chambers of Commerce annual legislative breakfast on October 18th at Crest Hollow Country Club. THANKS NED, we appreciate all you do for our chamber and community.
I would be remiss if I did not thank outgoing board members Marianne Plummer, Jim Baker and Francesca Carlow for their years of tireless service to the Chamber. We would not be as great as we are without all of you. Lastly, we welcome Ben Alssid, Asher Allweiss and Sherri Gillespie to the board. I look forward to working with you, and together making the Plainview-Old Bethpage Chamber of Commerce even more beneficial to all of our members.
Enjoy the remainder of the summer and see you in the fall!
Andrew Lamkin Esq, POB Chamber President
