Since my last message over the summer, the chamber has so many newsworthy happenings to report.
September events – At our September kick-off meeting, about 35 of us were encouraged by Long Island Association’s Matt Cohen to help them be a partner in the small business community. And last week’s golf outing provided fun along with the opportunity to interact with members of two other chambers. Thank you to our former president Andrew Lamkin for organizing another successful event.
Charity Partner – A new charity has been selected: The Sophia Valsamos Foundation. Our committee meticulously reviewed a record number of applications and the board approved TSVF in August. Please help us to raise awareness and funds for this worthy organization at our meetings and events through June 2023.
SpringFest – New board member, Carjoy’s Eric Molbegat has recently taken the reins as SpringFest chair. And our largest annual event has an official date! Sunday May 7th at the Mid-Island Y JCC where there will be even more space for us to fill with exciting attractions for all. Planning for SpringFest will begin soon. If possible, plan to help sponsor the event, take a booth or join the event committee.
POBCOC’s NCCC Businessperson for 2022 is executive vice president Alan Goldberg. An outstanding member of our chamber for many years, we congratulate Alan on receiving this well deserved honor at the council’s annual breakfast on October 28th.
New Members Breakfast and Committees – Happening last week over at Coliseum Kitchen, we welcomed our newest members (20 or so have joined since April) at this unique event where they had the opportunity to introduce themselves and chat with board members. They learned about the various chamber committees and how they can contribute to making the chamber an even stronger force than it already is. You can too: “There’s a committee for everyone,” according to Seth Meyer, our chamber’s hardworking committee chair. Check them out here.
Coming Up This Month – Join us for a ribbon cutting on Monday, Oct 10th as Madison’s Niche in Country Pointe marks its one-year anniversary and on Wednesday, Oct 12th for complimentary evening networking at TD Bank in Bethpage where member Rich Leshaw will be hosting. It wouldn’t be October without the chamber’s candidates’ forum at the membership meeting on the 19th. Start the day with us at the JCC and hear what the local politicians have to say and bring your questions. And finally, on Oct 25th, the chamber women’s group has invited the Syosset-Woodbury Chamber’s women’s group for an important evening addressing women’s health.
Fall Membership Special – Spread the word to colleagues and friends: If they join NOW for 2023, these next three months are FREE. Invite them to one of our October meetings or events so they can experience for themselves the great value that our chamber has to offer.
See you all soon!
