We are ready to “Live, Work and Play” once again in Plainview-Old Bethpage! Our Chamber tag line is more meaningful than ever now that pandemic restrictions are easing and we can cautiously move forward with in-person meetings and events.

In-Person Networking Soon!  Although we decided to forgo our Annual June Barbecue lunch this year, we are planning to welcome members at an in-person event this July. Stay tuned for all the details on that and our Fall Kickoff meeting that will take place in person on September 22, 2021. (One week later due to the holiday)

Election News — At our May meeting, we conducted board elections and I am happy to announce that Elan Wurtzel, Michael Chad, Lindsay Covello and Cheryl Dender were re-elected to the board and that Seth Meyer was elected to his first term as a board member. I thank each of them for their continued participation and look forward to working with Seth. I know that he will prove to be a great asset to the board and Chamber at large.

Board Member Opening — I would also like to thank outgoing board members, Ben Alssid and Stephanie Horn, who were both instrumental to the Chamber and will be sorely missed. There is an open board position, and we are currently seeking to appoint a chamber member to complete the remaining year of that board seat. Any Chamber member who has been a member for at least one year is eligible. Any interested members should reach out to me directly at andrew@lamkinelderlaw.com.

Women’s Group Events — Our Women’s Group continues to hold monthly virtual events. In May, business expert Dianne Parker lead a discussion on “What Keeps You Up at Night.” And on June 10, Ellen Volpe, founder of the American Business Associates (ABA), will be discussing “Networking in the new Normal.”

Golf Outing Announcement — I am excited to share that we have scheduled our Annual Golf Outing and Networking Event for October 7. It will once again be held at the Cold Spring Country Club. For the past three years, we have held this event in conjunction with the Westbury-Carle Place Chamber of Commerce and we are pleased that the Syosset-Woodbury Chamber of Commerce will be joining us this year as well.

Great New Member Incentive — Lastly, the board of directors has voted to approve a promotional rate for new members that allows new members to join the Chamber at a discounted rate of $75.00, if they join between July 1st and August 31. Anyone taking advantage of this promotion will enjoy all Chamber benefits for the remainder of the year. Please share this offer with any potential members you may know.

I wish you all a wonderful summer and hope to see you in person in July and September as the Chamber, our businesses and our families move forward.

Andrew Lamkin
