President’s Message — Winter 2020

The new decade is off to a great start at the POB Chamber. And our second largest annual event is fast approaching – the Membership Appreciation Dinner on February 27th. This complimentary evening of dining, networking, entertainment and raffle prizes is our way of thanking you for being a valued chamber member. As veterans will tell you, it’s not to be missed. If you haven’t already, please renew your membership (before February 1st ) and be sure to register for the festivities at the Heritage Club at Bethpage.

When March roars in, a special guest will be our featured speaker at the general membership meeting: Jon Ledecky, one of the majority owners of the New York Islanders. In his dynamic style, he will share his business acumen and “goals” for the hockey franchise at our breakfast meeting on March 18th.

Also in March, with spring around the corner the chamber will have fall on its mind. The 2020 Fall Festival planning will kick off with two meetings. Board member and former co-chair Ben Alssid will seamlessly take the baton from Ned Marzigliano as chairman this year.  Come to a meeting and discover how you can be a part of this wonderful community event. There are jobs big and small; some only require a festival day commitment. Friday, March 6th and Friday, March 27th. And it’s never too early to consider sponsorship for this major event. Early bird pricing will be announced in April! Contact Ben Alssid with any questions. Benjamin.Alssid@c2educate.com

Charity Update: In addition to the record amount raised at the 2019 Fall Festival for the chamber’s current charity partner, The Garrett Kassler Memorial Fund ($1,500), chamber members and guests at the annual Holiday Party proved very generous. The 50 plus attendees on December 9th generated another $1,200 in raffle sales.  (Thank you to board member Alan Goldberg and his committee for planning this successful event.) Please continue to participate in our 50/50 raffles at networking events so we can reach our goal of $5,000 – or more – to support the efforts of this local organization helping families battling with addiction.

Save the Date:  Our annual Golf Outing and Networking event with the Westbury-Carle Place Chamber will take place on Thursday, June 18th. Add it to your calendar and join us for a fun and relaxing day out.

I look forward to seeing you at meetings and events. Please don’t hesitate to contact me with your ideas on how to make our chamber even better!

Sincerely,

Andrew Lamkin, ESQ
