President’s Message – Winter 2024

It may still be cold outside but things are heating up with the chamber, especially with its largest event of the year – SpringFest. This year it will be held on Sunday, May 5th and for the first time we’ve added a rain date: May 19th. It will be our third year on the grounds of the Mid-Island Y JCC and we are again grateful to Rick Lewis and the Y staff for being partners in its success.  Early bird sponsor pricing has been extended, but only through February 29th so sign up today!

More Firsts! Other firsts for SpringFest this year include more dynamic attractions (follow POB SpringFest on Facebook for details) and extending the free membership benefit to ALL sponsor options, including various specialty ones. With calendar year membership in the rearview, members will have a full year of membership from whenever they join, renew or sponsor.

Website Refresh As the year came to a close in December, Loren Wildes and her team at Bar Harbor Web Design were busy updating the chamber website which now features a fresh new look and simplified functionality. Learn how to optimize our website for your business as a chamber member when Loren is our featured presenter at our February 28th membership meeting. Register here Bring your questions! Visit the website and see the members already taking advantage of the more prominent placement of our homepage sponsor ads. Incredible visibility at a value price of only $100 for a full year.

Share Your Career Knowledge  Another exciting new opportunity for members will happen this spring. Plainview-Old Bethpage High School is collaborating with Career Day Inc., Long Island’s leading career education and awareness program. On April 17th, people with all types of job knowledge will share their experiences and advice with students. To find out more about participating in this inspiring and rewarding activity, or to become a sponsor of the day-long event, click here.

Baking Bread for a Cause  Ariella’s NY Friendship Circle, the chamber’s current charity partner, recently announced it has launched an exciting new venture, a bread bakery. It helps teach baking skills and employ individuals that find it difficult to gain employment elsewhere.  All proceeds support the Friendship Circle Bakery and programs. If possible, please help support their endeavor. To order, visit

I could go on but invite you to come to our next meeting or networking event to hear more about all the great things the chamber is doing, or plans to, in the future.

I hope to see you soon!
