With hopes that the last snowflake has fallen, I write to you to provide many updates on the State of the Chamber.
From March 16 to April 13, we will be holding our final virtual raffle for the benefit of our 2021-2022 charitable partner, Rebecca Koltun/ Help Hope Live. The raffle promises to break records in fundraising as we have secured quite a treasure trove of prizes, including 3 sets of Islanders Tickets (donated by Plainview residents Lyle Kotler, David Katz and Marci Cohen), 4 Mets tickets (donated by member Michael Antongiovanni of Meyer Suozzi English & Klein, P.C.) and 2 Yankees tickets (donated by Rory Friedlander of Edible Arrangements). We also have gift cards, a session with Golf Psychiatrist, Dan Schaefer, an Air Purifier donated by our very own Ned Marzigliano and an Estate Planning package donated by yours truly. We have raised over $7,000 to date and hope to hit $15,000 by June. We have benefited from the great generosity of those who have donated the prizes. Now, we need your generosity in purchasing the tickets! Be sure to read our Constant Contact emails or visit our website soon for all the details!
On the Networking front, our Networking Chair, Alan Goldberg, has made up for lost time by scheduling some exciting events. On March 21, we are participating in a Multi-Chamber event with the Syosset-Woodbury Chamber at Chocolate Works. Your RSVP is encouraged for this event. To celebrate all new members since January 2020 (including our 70 new MapToons members!), our Membership Chair, Seth Meyer, is organizing a New Members Breakfast at the Plainview Diner on March 31st. Invitations were emailed last week. If you have any questions, please contact Seth firstname.lastname@example.org
Our Women’s Group is back with in-person meetings on April 12th at 6pm at the POB Library. The group will welcome Officers of the Nassau County Police Department, who will be speaking on current threats in the community and protective measures we can all take. Also, please note due to the Spring holiday schedule, our April membership meeting will be held the second week of April, on the 13th, at the Mid Island Y JCC.
In May, we will be conducting our Annual Board Elections. Being a member of the board is not only a great opportunity to give back to the community, but also to have a role in the future of the Chamber and get to know many of our other members. Interested individuals should reach out to Nominating Committee Chairperson, Gary Epstein email@example.com.
Volunteer for SpringFest! Festival CO-Chairs Elan Wurtzel and Seth Meyer, and their very dedicated committee, have been meeting regularly to organize “Spring Fest”, which will take place on Sunday, May 22 in the parking lot of the Mid Island Y JCC. Valuable sponsorship opportunities are still available and many volunteers are needed – before and during the event. If you have a few hours to spare, please contact one of the SpringFest Committee co-chairs Elan urtzel firstname.lastname@example.org or Seth Meyer email@example.com.
The Memorial Day Parade is also returning in full form, on Monday May 30. The parade route begins at 700 Old Country Road, heads east on Old Country Rd and continues to the town park where there is a ceremony honoring our veterans who have paid the supreme sacrifice. Anyone interested in marching or volunteering to work on the Parade Committee should contact me at 516-605-0625, or via email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
As you can see, we have a very exciting Calendar of Events scheduled for the Spring. I thank our entire board for their efforts in making these events, not only possible, but successful. I hope to see all of you at these various events and take in all that the Chamber has to offer.
Andrew M. Lamkin, Esq.
